“To learn to read is to light a fire” — Victor Hugo, Les Miserables

Reading is an important bonding time between you and your child. As they look and listen to you read, their eyes wide open to the incredible tales and imaginative worlds that you bring into their lives - all from the folded pages within the magical book.

Books have a way to teleport one into different worlds and time, especially children's book, where the active imagination of a child meets well-considered prompts of a good children's book writer. It is however important to not discourage or scare the child away with a tougher read that they can handle. With that in mind, we have selected 5 essential yet beautiful books for your child to start off with:

  1. The very hungry caterpillar - Eric Carle
